Alexander Osei-Owusu, M.A., Registered Psychotherapist, Qualifying

In my practice, I provide a genuine therapeutic relationship for individuals, couples, and families. I aim to help my clients to gain a better balance in their lives. I can help you manage stress and deal with anxiety, work on trauma, identity, personality or relationship issues. My focus in a therapy session is to increase a person’s feelings of self-worth, and to reduce the level of incongruence between the ‘ideal and Actual self’. Often people feel misunderstood, and I can help you explore this. My goal is to add value to my client’s lives by improving their emotional and psychological well-being. I also enjoy focusing on helping individuals cultivate healthy relationships and attain fulfillment through these connections.

I practice person-centered therapy, and believe strongly in creating a climate of unconditional positive regard, where you are free to express your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I’ve lived in a variety of countries and from my lived experience, I approach all people with an openness, curiosity and warmth. Working from evidence-based frameworks such as: Positive Psychology, Solution-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therap (DBT), and mindfulnes, I aim to help clients achieve their goals.

I have a Masters of Counselling Psychology (M.A.) from Yorkville University, and am a registered member of the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I practice under the supervision of Alice Lurie, Registered Psychotherapist, M.A .
