Alycia Hunte, Registered Psychotherapist
Alycia works with adults, youth and children (4+) in English and French. She offers both in-person and virtual care in downtown Ottawa. Her areas of focus with adults are: general mental health, anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem, body image struggles, depression and parenting problems. Alycia often helps adults with complex issues such as parenting, navigating divorce and separation, and blended familiy issues.
Alycia offers a safe and therapeutic space to explore the deeper you. Her therapeutic style leans toward empowering her clients with concrete tools to use in their personal growth to enable them to live the life they desire. Her approach is grounded in empathy, curiosity and openness.
In her work with youth and children, Alycia helps with bullying, navigating separation or divorce, emotional regulation, social anxiety, developing social skills, low self-esteem, ASD, depression, self-injury and trauma. She has over 2 decades of experience in working with children, and a solid background in Early Childhood Education (ECE). She works from an integrative approach that blends frameworks such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices.
Alycia holds a Masters' Degree in Counselling Psychology (M.A.) from Yorkville University and is a member in good standing of the College of Registered Psychotherapists Ontario (CRPO). She practices under the supervision of Maria Iraheta RP.
