Frances Fitzgibbon, Registered Psychotherapist, M.A.

I am an Ottawa therapist who helps clients to grow through building reslience, navigating change and building new skills. I see people with general mental health issues and have a keen focus on helping those dealing with anxiety, trauma, identity, mood disorders, personality issues and relationship crises. If you are feeling misunderstood or locked in a space where you just feel stuck, I can help with this. I work with individuals and couples to help them improve their emotional, psychological and relationship health.

My practice is free from shame or judgement; a therapeutic experience to explore the complexities of you. It's a respectful and safe space for people of diverse cultures, sexual orientations and identities. All therapy is from an evidence-based approach and may include various frameworks such as Psychodynamic/Attachment-Based, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT). I am also one of the few therapists in Canada certified in Reconsolidation Therapy, a ground-breaking process for the relief of PTSD and trauma symptoms. Traumatic events can affect many aspects of a person's life and I can help you live a better life through an integrated therapy approach.

Whether you are keen to explore your 'self' and life path (who am I and how do I fit in this world?), self-esteem issues or problems with motivation and fear, the integrated therapy approach I take is tailored to your exact needs and personality. In my couples therapy work, I often see issues arising with conflict, attachment, sex therapy, infidelity and intimacy challenges.

I am a registered provider of the NIHB program for Indigenous Canadians and also with Blue Cross for veterans and first responders. I have a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology (M.A.C.P.) and am a member of the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMPH). My practice is under the supervision of Dr. Meagan Gallagher, C. Psych., a licensed and registered Clinical Psychologist.
